Most of us want to be “green”, or try to do things and use things that are safer for the environment. But many of us are skeptical when it comes to the idea of green cleaning products actually working.
Why is that? Maybe it comes from thinking about a truly “green” way of cleaning is to use water only. But try washing your dirty clothes or dirty dishes with water only. Sorry – soap works. The term “green” has become a catchphrase like “natural”. What do they really mean? What standards are enforced to make sure something is truly environmentally friendly?
As far as green cleaning products, the Carpet & Rug Institute has a standard to define their green certification process. “We start with the premise that if it doesn’t clean, it can’t be green. A product first of all has to work on carpet. Then if it passes through that screen, we determine if it’s green. And we are absolutely convinced you can have both.”
At Clean Interiors’ carpet cleaning, our standard cleaning product is considered green, or environmentally safe. It is biodegradable with no VOCs and no off-gassing. It’s also made with all natural ingredients. (Oops, there’s that word “natural”. That was taken from the manufacturer’s website. Additionally, it is safe for people: Detergent free, Odor less, Hypo-allergenic, and Non-Toxic.
What if a carpet is just too dirty to use a green product? With your approval, we can use a traditional cleaning product that can clean even better. But it is still safer than many standard carpet cleaning products, because it contains no butyls or harsh solvents. And with steam cleaning* the dirt and cleaning products are rinsed away by high pressure hot water. It’s not a dry cleaning process where the product stays in the carpet.
